THE BASICS --{Name}-- Rai {Born: Ulysses en Britannia} —{Alias}— The Illusionary Adonis (Coined by Rivalz) {The Black Prince of Pendragon} --{Age}-- 17 (Biologically, chronological age unknown) {Circa 60-70 years} --{Gender}-- Male --{Race/Nationality}-- Britannian/Japanese --{Occupation/Rank}-- Student |
APPEARANCE & BEHAVIOR --{Physical Description}-- Rai is a tall, comparatively slim young man with silvery off-blonde hair and angular facial features. Standing a lean built 5’9” he sports a thin but deceptively powerful and muscular frame. While not being excessively ‘ripped’ or ‘cut’ his musculature is an athletic one designed to be as close to optimally proportioned to his other attributes as is possible. He is obviously quite long limbed, an trait replicated in his hands as he has what one might call pianist’s hands with a slim elongated palm and long and slender fingers. (Unbeknownst to most this is also replicated in his feet, which he hates with a passion. It is for fear of someone discovering his absurd looking ‘finger-toes’ that he never wears sandals and makes a point of not removing his socks in company.) His hair is of the aforementioned silvery off-blonde and to describe its haphazard style of dangling locks only the phrase ‘bed head’ would be sufficient. His facial features share the common thread of being quite slim angular, contrasting starkly with his wide rounded eyes of bright blue. While he has an almost complete mastery over his facial tics and body language, his eyes are the most likely to betray his emotions to those who know him well. Currently the only clothes which Rai owns are his black and gold edged Ashford Academy uniform and the clothing in which he was found which consists of brown slip on loafers, grey trousers and a white long sleeved shirt which he usually wears the sleeves rolled up. --{Personality}-- Usually Rai conducts himself in a distinctly mild and unsure fashion, having lost almost his entire memory he is nigh on pathologically unsure of himself in most any situation he has not yet grown accustomed to. Though this is generally a swift process as he shows an incredible adaptability, it makes introductions and integration into a new group tentative at first. Generally he is very polite and courteous, most often conceding to the whims of whatever group he finds himself in (which when one’s only real acquaintance is Milly Ashford, is a great deal more dangerous than it sounds) at the time. Despite his intelligence and comparative ignorance as to current events, he tends not to try and coerce others towards his way of thinking, knowing that his views are more often than not outspoken under modern Britannian ideology. Seemingly compassionate in his most basic nature, Rai feels compelled to help those around him or those most in need to the best of his abilities no matter the risk or loss to himself. In this aspect he can be somewhat impulsive and it is a trait which quite often overpowers his logical mind, leading him in to unfavourable situations in which he’s then left to try and fathom a way out. In much the same way he dislikes violence, but has the capacity to be violent, even to the point of lethality if he feels it necessary to save or aid someone else. He does however, regret the need to kill one’s enemies, seeming to regard all life with an equal measure of sanctity. As such, he likes to be able to understand his enemies, so he can determine whether or not it is strictly safe to allow them to live, though in this respect he sometimes errs away from caution, opting instead for compassion. He believes wholeheartedly that people can change and become better than once they were and he would much rather allow them that chance even if only granting it once, than simply execute them for prudence’s sake. Though he acknowledges the power of and occasional necessity for deception, he dislikes having to lie to people. It isn’t so much that he can’t, or is uncomfortable doing so, rather it is just something which he finds unpleasant. In particular he dislikes having to lie to people he cares about as he considers it to be a disservice to the kindness they’ve shown him. {Prior to sealing himself within the Thought Elevator, Ulysses was a kind and compassionate man who despite believing that all people were not created equal, believed as well that those with skills or situations granting them superiority had a moral obligation to redress the balance. He believed that only in doing so did one gain the moral authority necessary to lead. This trait more than any other shows through in Rai, though he doesn’t think of it in those terms as such. Ulysses disliked the Darwinist mode of thought which had begun to sweep Britannia even in his lifetime, feeling that it was not only the strong that should survive and prosper, but that it was their duty to help others do so. He knew even then that he alone would not be able to change the minds of the whole populace. He believed wholeheartedly that the innocence and gentleness which he had observed in V2 and Charles would be able to change the world much for the better. Ulysses was almost unique amongst Britannian Royalty, in that he loved each of his siblings deeply and it was due in part to having killed or used Geass to incapacitate a majority of them, he believed that he was unworthy to become Emperor. Even considering the fact that he never made a move against his siblings without due provocation, he considered fratricide to be one of the worst crimes one could commit, a cruel fate placed on the Britannian Emperor’s heirs by the harsh spirit of the times.} |
BATTLEFIELD EVALUATION --{Knightmare Frame}-- None as of yet. --{Weapons}-- None as of yet. --{Equipment}-- None as yet. —{Geass}— Rai’s Geass is described as the Power of Absolute Obedience, the ability to instil an irresistible command within the mind of his target, which the afflicted individual will then carry out to the best of their abilities. Unlike the other Absolute Obedience Geass belonging to Lelouch vi Britannia, Rai’s ability manifests itself through his voice and though he still has a Geass sigil in his right eye, eye contact is not a pre-requisite for him to deliver a command. Any given order may be issued to anyone within a maximum radius of 300 meters of Rai himself, this area is not constant however and upon activation of Rai’s Geass a ‘territory’ of sorts which he is able to see will expand out from him at a rate of 10 meters per second until it reaches its maximum size. Due to these attributes, Rai must be careful in the orders which he gives lest he accidentally Geass his allies or himself. Because his Geass relies on the propagation of sound waves within his territory, Rai encounters difficulty when using it in crowded noisy environments and cannot use it underwater or with his voice obstructed by powerful constriction of his throat or gagging of his mouth. Additionally a command will not be acknowledged and take effect if the target individual does not comprehend it when it is given, meaning that Rai’s Geass is ineffective if someone cannot understand what he says or is simply not paying adequate attention to him the Geass will not take hold. Strangely, when Rai and Lelouch’s Geass contradict one another, giving the same person two different and incompatible commands, they cancel one another out and the target returns to their natural state before being exposed to Geass as though they had made physical contact with an Immortal or had been effected by a Geass Canceller. A target individual may also show some resistance to an order which is entirely against their personality, but it would have to be something which they find to be completely morally reprehensible and a great deal of willpower would be required to put up even the slightest resistance. --{Special Skills/Abilities}-- Aside from his Geass, Rai possesses a vast array of skills which seem to be so firmly integrated into his psyche that despite not knowing when or where he learned them from he is able to use many of them reflexively, while others he is able to consciously call upon. Rai was trained during his time at the Code-R facility to perform a variety of functions, such as espionage, infiltration and assassination. He is proficient in multiple forms of unarmed combat and self defence including Boxing, Graeco-Roman Wrestling, Hapkido, Krav Maga to name but a few, using an amalgamation of them in combat. He is also trained to use a variety of melee weapons such as knives, swords, staffs and sticks. Currently he is only able to use these skills as the situation demands or when under the influence of adrenal stimulation, making him a very formidable opponent if he is aware or suspicious of danger. Rai is also multi-lingual, able to speak English, French, German, Italian, Greek, Arabic, Russian, Mandarin and Japanese not only fluently but with a perfect accent. He usually only speaks these when talking with someone who he has heard speak, or knows is able to understand one of them. Occasionally he may slip into one of these mid conversation for a sentence or two. He is well versed in dancing, foreign customs and music, able to play the piano and violin. In spite of his natural predisposition against deliberate or unnecessary deception, Rai seems to have an almost natural affinity for it. He is a magnificent actor, able to hide or repress the slightest signs of discomfort, the merest tell or the smallest flaw in what he chooses to present as truth. This unfortunately means that it is impossible to believe anything which he says or to completely trust anything which he does. Somewhat ironically, Rai has demonstrated that he possesses an eidetic memory, able to recall what he sees, hears and feels in perfect 1:1 detail. He believes this is part of the reason he is so highly skilled in different areas despite his young age. Due to this trait the occasional flashes of memory that he does receive from his prior life are incredibly vivid and depending on their content can be highly disturbing to relive. Genius Level Intellect – Though he often allows his emotion to override his rational mind, Rai is in position of a brilliant capacity for strategic and tactical planning, situational analysis and logical deduction. Though he has yet to apply it to its full capacity, the hallmarks are there for anyone who cares to look, most evident when he is engaged in a game of skill or other battle of wits. |
PERSONAL INFO --{Family}-- Currently unknown. --{Friends}-- Milly Ashford --{Comrades/Acquaintances}-- The Ashford Academy Student Council --{History}-- {Born under the name of Ulysses en Britannia, Rai is the elder half-brother of Charles zi Britannia and V2. Though they shared the same father, Rai’s mother was a consort from the isles of Japan, a relative of the Sumeragi House of Kyoto. She had previously been the wife of a Japanese General and politician whom she had borne a daughter, Atsuko. His elder sister would become the light of young Ulysses’ life and as much as he strived against and struggled with his family both Britannian and Japanese, she was the only person whom he ever really trusted. In his childhood years he received equal parts of a classical Britannian and Japanese education, which made him somewhat uniquely gifted amongst his siblings and eventually would propel him to the position of Crown Prince. Ulysses freely embraced his split heritage and unlike many Britannians he did not see foreign cultures as being inferior, but instead was fascinated by the myriad permutations of art, culture, faith, science and philosophy the world over. The fact that his mother had been used as a diplomatic tool by her House due only to her low standing in it grated on him deeply as even though it had led to his conception he observed that not being able to live a life she chose for herself saddened her deeply. This relationship with his mother made him despise all forms of classism and eventually led him to believe that the only way in which a fair and above all just society could prosper would be to make all men equal. For a Britannian Prince this was a dangerous stance to adopt and so Ulysses hid his ambition away from the world for much of his life, only ever confiding in his half-sister Atsuko, which led to her rather bizarre pet name for him. During the power games which surrounded the Imperial Succession he made a bargain with the Immortal who would later pass his Code on to V2 and gained the Geass power of Absolute Obedience which he would use to deceive and murder his siblings in order to protect his family and position himself to become Emperor. His numerous military victories along with his political machinations to become the Imperial Successor earned him the title of ‘Black Prince,’ a name he shared with the nigh on legendary Britannian Prince Edward, indeed it was said of him that there was no enemy he could not defeat nor army that he could not rout. Though he had not particular want for power or interest in the business of ruling, he wished to spare his siblings the burden of responsibility which came along with it. In particular it was Charles and V2 which he wished to shield from this burden, as he believed that their simple albeit childishly naive perspective on life and truth would change the world for the better if they could only retain it in their adulthood. Lest someone attempt to use either of the brothers against him, Ulysses found it necessary to outwardly display the utmost contempt towards the two, something which he regretted doing his entire life. As the events which became infamous as the Emblem of Blood drew to a close Ulysses was forced to confront his split heritage when the Chinese Federation declared war against the Empire of Britannia. Ulysses attempted to secure Japan as a valuable ally against the Federation, but the Japanese would not allow any foreign troops on their shores even if only to be used as a staging ground. The Japanese finally elected to side with the Chinese and launched an attack on the West coast of Britannia upon which Ulysses ordered a massive counter attack, accidentally using his Geass on all those present at the time which included his mother and sister. After they were killed in the battle that followed along with many other members of the Imperial Family who had been present to receive his command, Ulysses travelled to Japan and sealed himself within the Thought Elevator on Kamine Island, entering a deep hibernation once within. He did not simply kill himself because he wished to somehow prove to himself that his actions and losses had not all been in vain, though more than anything he wished to see the world which his siblings would build. During his long slumber, perhaps as a result of being inside of a Thought Elevator, Ulysses forgot almost everything about his old life, eventually to awake as an altogether different person. The one thing he did remember was the pet-name by which his sister had always called him on account of him being a liar to his core: Rai.} At this point in time, much of Rai’s past remains a mystery even to him. He was discovered on Kamine Island by Bartley Aspirus and taken to the Code-R facility. Awaking with no memory of who he was save for a given name he used Geass to orchestrate his escape and with his cunning which was thankfully undiluted by his time in the Thought Elevator he was able to evade capture and disappear almost completely within a few days, though the Code-R security forces were eventually able to track him down something happened which no one could possibly have predicted. Rai’s Geass which had lain dormant activated and he used it to order his pursuers (and accidentally himself) ‘forget all about me.’ Having lost what few memories he did have, Rai stumbled on to the grounds of Ashford Academy where he was found by Milly Ashford and Lelouch Lamperogue before passing out. Upon awaking days later, he was granted permission by Milly’s grandfather to remain at and attend Ashford until his memory returned. --{RP Sample}-- Milly had given him the diary a few days ago, to get his thought in order, she had said. It was a thoughtful gift and so he wanted to first grace it with something worthwhile. His scattered jabbering thoughts were to indistinct and though it was the stated intention of it, but in doing so he wanted to do her thoughtfulness justice by making the first recorded thought a good one. The page had laid open on the desk in his room for some time now, a pen poised ready but still idle beside it. In the end he settled on something which he had recalled the night before, though he could scarcely tell whether or not it was a memory delivered in the form of a dream or simply a dream masquerading in the guise of a memory. Either way, he began to write. I remember a light and a voice: ‘A different providence, different time, different life.’ And then what? With the passing of the night he could remember nothing more of what had transpired whether real or imagined, he set down his pen again and rose from his seat. It frustrated Rai immensely that he could remember nothing before his arrival at Ashford, the details of which he only recalled as they’d been described to him by his host. Apparently he’d made quite the scene bursting out of a hedgerow upon Milly and Lelouch, shocking at the time but rather funny in retrospect she’d said. After that and before there was almost nothing, not a dark expanse, but a pristine vista of white, evidentially where something had once been but was no more as though it had been wiped clean. In his short time there he had quickly decided that he rather liked Ashford Academy, it had a seemingly paradoxical laid back feel while at the same time possessing a warmth and energy which invigorated him immensely. He would be most aggrieved when it came time for him to depart and he reckoned that he would very much like to return if it were at all possible, but likewise the notion that there was someone out there worried over his safety or indeed his life agitated him. He was broken from his ruminations by a knock at his door, the familiar voice of the Student Council President soon following, asking if he were decent before bursting through all the same. Rai smiled, lucky for him that he had been. He’d remembered he was to meet the remaining members of the Student Council today which he was quite looking forward to. If there was anything Ashford was not lacking in then it was big personalities and he’d liked those he’d seen so far. At the very least he was content to tarry with them a while until his memory returned. After all, he thought, even if he had lost all he’d had it was not to say he couldn’t enjoy what he had gained by that same event. |
