Hearing Lelouch say that Texas Hold'em would be most appropriate, it seemed to him that he wanted something in which his own key trait of deception was less useful. Obviously, it was a wise decision as beginners were usually better at this form of poker. ON the other hand, he had practiced every kind of poker for a long time and this form he was in fact quite skilled at. Overall, it meant that while he would still have the upper hand at the game, they would both likely stand a chance at victory because the common hand is something that makes betting far easier for most people. "Texas Hold'em it is then, I hope neither of you get stuck on what to do next." 'Cutting my deck obviously shows that he wants a fair game, while it would have been a "fair" game either way, having him cut the deck just proves to both of them that I have nothing to do with winning if I do in fact win. On the other hand, if I lose this first hand, they will see just how little knowledge of the deep in-game knowledge is required to be good at it. This also means though that luck is highly involved in this game, and while it is easy to guess at what opponents have, often time it is not as simple as that. This is a game where instead of guessing at what another person at the table has in their hand, you try and figure out whether or not you should stay in based upon what is in the hand. While deception is not quite as useful as some other forms of poker, it is in some ways more of an opponent to new players than one might guess. People who know the game intricately are easily able to determine a good or bad hand immediately. Both of them being new players means that they will not bid until the very end. It also means that they will often suspect a person of bluffing when betting earlier on in the round until the understand how the game works.'
Once Rai had cut the deck a second time, Alex began to deal the crads out very quickly. In just a few moments, everybody had two cards in their "hand" and the five cards were in the center of the table with the three throw-away cards. It seemed as though it would be a good game and he would need to make sure that he surprised them with his knowledge of the game. He paused for a moment when looking at his cards, wondering if they should play blackjack when and if they get back together for cards. It was almost considered a form of poker and it was a game in which there was luck, but also a good bit of math and counting cards. In his case, he was an expert and could do so very quickly. A newcomer to the game however always had trouble with the finer details involved in counting cards.
He would leave the first round of betting to Rai as he was supposed to do and would also make some comments before really getting started on the game. "Well, I wish the both of you luck in the game. Also, don't forget to look at every possible option." While such words that he said were common sense for somebody who had played as long as he had, they may be very useful to people who had never touched the game.
